We are talking about a far-reaching transformation, which will be required to insure the competitiveness of our industry and meet the demands from safety authorities.  It will affect all our activities, design and engineering, operations and maintenance, dismantling and waste management.

We need to discuss practical cases in the field, assess the different tools and technologies, and measure the economic benefits. We have to anticipate our risks. We must prepare for major changes in our organizational cultures and individual behaviors."

Philippe Knoche,
ORANO Chief Executive & SFEN Chairman

" Nuclear accelerates its digital transformation"

Many nuclear utilities around the world are now engaged in the digital transformation of their operations, with the objective to deliver competitive and reliable low-carbon energy in the long term. Numerous initiatives, by large companies, SMEs and start-up, are under way in fields such as new build, nuclear facilities operations & maintenance, dismantling and waste management.

INDEX 2018 is the first international conference which will enable nuclear industry professionals to share learnings from case studies and tech-demonstrations of digital transformation projects.

It will be a unique opportunity to meet key experts and practitioners from various nuclear fields and many countries, and gain the latest insight on:

What benefits can be expected from digital transformation in terms of safety and operational performance?

What challenges need to be addressed in terms of professional practices, process and cultural changes?

What are the expectations from safety regulators from digital transformation?

What opportunities shall digital technology bring to all members of the value chain?

How will it impact business models and relationships ?

SFEN partners with WNE 2018 and organizes the first major international conference dedicated to digital transformation in the nuclear field.

WNE 2018 (World Nuclear Exhibition) will host 800 international exhibitors and welcome 10,000 international visitors from the nuclear industry on June 26-28 in Villepinte.

The French Nuclear Energy Society, SFEN, (Société Française d’Energie Nucléaire) is the French knowledge hub for nuclear energy. Created in 1973, the SFEN provides a space where all those who are interested in nuclear energy and its applications can obtain and exchange information.

The SFEN brings together 3 600 professionals, engineers, technicians, chemists, doctors, professors and students from industrial sites and from the French nuclear research organisations.

The SFEN’s four missions are:

To communicate, share and publish information

• To highlight the nuclear sector’s scientific excellence and technical rigour

• To play an active role in discussions

• To federate the women and men who work in the nuclear sector
